Are you looking for a new cycling adventure next year? Then why not cycle around the coast of Wales?
Dave Lewis, a writer and photographer from Pontypridd, did just that this year in aid of Prostate Cancer UK. He cycled almost 700 miles around the Welsh coastline and Wales / England border raising over £500 for the charity.
Having struggled with punctures, the great Welsh weather, pink sheep and a surreal encounter with wool he somehow managed to finish his challenge, write a book about his adventures and also set up a new website.
The aim of the ride was to encourage more cyclists to repeat the route and explore some of the most stunning scenery in the UK. Dave’s hope is that one day soon this ride will become as iconic as the legendary Land’s End to John o’ Groats (LEJOG). So, over to you bikers! Let’s spread the word and put Wales firmly on the cyclist’s ‘must-do’ map!
For more information on places to stay, cycle routes, places of interest, great bike shops and useful links visit the Wales Trails website.
And if you’re stuck for a Christmas present why not get a copy of Dave’s hilarious book also available from the site!
